Adult Formation

Journey in Joy Women’s Bible study meets on Friday mornings throughout the program year. We have studied the Corinthian Letters and are now studying Matthew.

Education for Ministry (EFM) also meets during the program year. EFM is a four year program of theological education based on small groups. The goal is to help the participants encounter the breadth and depth of the Christian tradition.

Sunday morning formation opportunities give people a chance to engage in book studies as well as presentations offered by clergy, staff, parishioners and guest speakers. Sunday morning book studies have included Falling Upward, by Richard Rohr, and now C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters. We expect to start up another book after Easter.

Sunday forums have covered a wide range of topics from The Good Book Club’s Acts of the Apostles, Mystics, Benedictines, COS history, and reports from COS constituencies. For the first time we offered a craft for All Saints Day, making shadow boxes with memorabilia of deceased family members. We will do a better job of advertising this next year! Our Advent forums focused on families joining together to make crafts to decorate the church. It was a joyful opportunity for the Mandarin and English speaking families to jointly serve the church.

The current forum schedule features a series on Forgiveness, the COS Budget, Benedictine Spirituality, Story Sharing, Preparation for Holy Week, and The Rector’s forum.
