SAGES Luncheon

Protecting Yourself Against Scams Presentation

One of the largest amount of crimes are the scams and fraud committed against seniors. They include everything from calls from the IRS or a grandchild in trouble, to an online relationship with a person who turns out to be a criminal. Seniors in the Los Angeles area have lost more than $47 million to scammers so far this year. The enormous psychological and emotional damage to those victims cannot be measured.

Investigating crimes against local seniors that cost them more than $2 million in the past few months motivated parishioner Tom Lenzo to offer this presentation to protect the members of the COS family.

Tom has been investigating fraud and scams for the Pasadena Police Department for more than 9 years, and is a member of the FBI’s Scams Work Group.

The afternoon event will start with a potluck lunch, followed by the presentation.

When: Thursday, August 31, at 12:15, Cleaver Hall.

Pot luck: A – J  salad,  K – R main dish, and S – Z dessert.

Drinks will be provided by Bev and Jerry Harris.
