Notes from Janey Cutting: Hospitality

The holidays are upon us and that means many upcoming events here at the church. In preparation for this busy season I want to remind and clarify a few items in reference to Cleaver Hall and the kitchen.

  1. Please, please, please put away anything you use for an event exactly where you found it! Do not leave it in the kitchen with the hopes that someone else will take care of it. That is your responsibility.

  2. Do not leave behind items in the kitchen, Cleaver Hall or any other room from your event that doesn’t belong to the church. We are not a dumping ground. If you want to donate it to the church, please contact me to see if we need or want it.

  3. And as I was taught many years ago, try to leave a space better than you found.

Some of you may be aware that the refrigerator broke down last week. We had to throw away some perishables that had been in there over that weekend due to possible spoilage. As I was tossing it became very clear we have far more salad dressing than we need. Many bottles of the same type of dressing. In the future, don’t assume you need to buy salad dressing for your event. Check to see if we already have some. You can email me or call me and ask if you aren’t sure.

Also, we have an abundance of red and white wine. Please use what we have on hand before buying more.

And lastly, a plea. I have a small, but mighty Hospitality committee. I am in desperate need of more volunteers to help during our before, during and after events. If you are interested, please let me know!
