Our Saviour Center Spotlight

God is at work in El Monte!

Fr. Roberto of the Church of the Nativity, located within a mile of OSC,  stopped by OSC recently. Fr. Roberto just said he wanted to learn a little about Our Saviour Center.  It turns out, Fr. Roberto had an intention in addition to learning about OSC!  After chatting for a few minutes about the different services provided at OSC, Fr. Roberto explained that his congregation conducted an alms offering this past Lent.  Then, Fr. Roberto wrote a $700 check to OSC to be used in our Emergency Shelter program!  Turns out the Church of the Nativity operates an informal rent-assistance program, but his congregation wanted to support the important safety-net service of emergency shelter through OSC.  As we shared with Fr. Roberto, their generous donation will provide a week’s shelter to a family in need here in El Monte.

Please remember Fr. Roberto and his generous parish in your prayers.  And look for updates on OSC expanding our collaboration with Fr. Roberto and the Church of the Nativity in El Monte!

Kiwanis Take Over!

Recently, the El Monte Kiwanis did a volunteer take over at Our Saviour Centers food pantry. Seven members of the local Kiwanis Club volunteered today at the food pantry giving some of our regular volunteers a day off. We thank them for coming out to share their talents with us, they worked very hard in the warehouse making bags for our clients, doing intake up front, helping with our current mailing campaign by folding and stuffing envelopes. Thank you Christine Morton for putting this together, we loved having you enthusiasm and energy today serving our neighbors in need.

If anyone is interested in having their group or organization do a volunteer take over please contact Diane Williams at 626-579-2190 x127
