This Thanksgiving, Our Saviour Center's Food Bank made an impact in our community. For many years, our food pantry has been a lifeline in El Monte, serving over 2,800 people each month. On Tuesday, November 26th, we had the privilege of distributing 350 turkeys and 418 hams, bringing hope and nourishment to 768 families in need.
Thanks to your kindness at last month's Dia de los Muertos celebration, we were able to raise funds that enabled us to offer turkeys and hams for our Thanksgiving giveaway, filling hearts and tables with warmth and joy during this special season.
We are also deeply grateful to LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis and to the San Gabriel Valley Water Company for their generous donations of turkeys. We also extend our appreciation to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank for contributing an additional 20 turkeys. And a special thank you goes to Assemblymember Mike Fong from the 49th District for his generous $500 donation, which helped us provide an extra 15 turkeys, enhancing our support for families facing challenging times.
In addition, we are proud to partner with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and Lyft, allowing us to deliver meals to families who are unable to visit us. This initiative supports nearly 150 families in El Monte each month, and it’s our mission to ensure they feel cared for and connected. Leftover turkeys or hams from the past week will be set aside for Christmas distribution, so we can continue to spread joy and love during this holiday season.
