Picture it: It’s a Sunday morning and you are sitting in your favorite pew at your favorite morning service in our historic sanctuary. Having just heard one of our clergy give a heart-warming and reflective sermon, you ponder the lesson and how the teachings of Jesus are working in your life. You look up to see two wonderful ushers passing the collection plate down the rows ahead of you. In a slight panic, you reach for your pocket, check your wallet, and realize you are flush with plastic but have no cash. Drat! You think to yourself, how could I forget to bring an offertory?!
I’m not proud of it, but I can honestly say that this has happened to me on more than one occasion while sitting in our beautiful church. As we joyfully enter another successful season of Annual Giving, COS is making it easier to avoid situations when you want to make a gift but you have no cash in your pockets. The COS Stewardship Committee has developed a helpful, easy way to put generosity in action: introducing Text-to-Give!
The pews in our church now feature a Text-to-Give number that is quick, easy, and secure. Here’s how it works:
Begin a text to 73256.
Type in the COS keyword SHARE and a dollar sign with the gift amount. (example: share$50 or Share $50)
You will then receive a text with a secure link that asks to complete your gift to COS. Click on the link.
Determine your gift amount, designation, and whether you would like to make your gift once or on a recurring basis. Then click Continue.
Register your payment information, with the option of also covering COS’s credit card transaction fee, and click Gift.
Your transaction is complete, and a gift receipt will be emailed to you
Text-to-Give enables safe, simple, and fast gift-giving to our favorite parish anytime, anywhere, with just a few taps to your smartphone. Once you register, you will not have to re-register each time you wish to make a gift.
The new Text-to-Give feature will be a revolutionary way to put Prayer, Generosity, and Participation into practice at COS, not only during Annual Giving Season but all year long.
